Ames Grand Prix 
June 10 & 11

The Ames Grand Prix will feature the Main Street Criterium on Saturday, June 10th, followed by a 2.6 mile ISU Research Park Circuit Race on Sunday, June 11th.  Ames Velo is excited to introduce this annual event and to showcase all that the city of Ames has to offer.  We have designed this weekend of racing to make it an enjoyable experience for racers and their families.  
​Both courses are conveniently located inside Ames, just minutes apart.  We hope you have a chance to enjoy the wide variety of amenities available through the weekend.  Scroll down to get more details.

Ames is conveniently located 35 minutes north of Des Moines, just off I35 and US30.

Iowa Memorial Cup Race Series (IMCRS)- Weekend #2:

The Pactimo IMCRS Leader's Jersey will be on display in each category throughout the weekend.  Leader's will attempt to defend their jersey across the two days of the Ames Grand Prix.  Points will be tabulated on Sunday, after the circuit race, and an IMCRS podium ceremony will include jersey presentation to the leaders going in to the 3rd round of the series in Des Moines.

The Timothy Ryan Jenks Memorial Scholarship (TRJMS) is established to recognize passionate students of high character and to assist those students in the pursuit of excellence outside of the normal school curriculum, such as music, sports, or club-related activities.

Main Street Criterium:

This .7 mile flat course is fun and fast.  Excellent quality roads and the Saturday Main Street Cultural District vibe will make this a memorable afternoon and evening.  All shops, restaurants and bars will be open during the race, so it's a perfect chance to bring family and friends to the races.

Make sure to bring the kids to enjoy the Kids Race @ 5:45 PM.  Special thanks to Duck Worth Wearing for presenting this fun filled event.  There will be a 1 block and 1 lap race.  Helmets and smiles required!

Research Park Circuit Race

This 2.6 mile technical circuit will make for some dynamic racing.  With many vantage points, it also makes for a great race to spectate.  Hot lap primes will be offered to help spice things up.  The south end of the course features some of the beautiful new architecture recently completed.  To learn more about ISU Research Park click here.
